Study reveals recommended daily tea intake to slow aging. Find out how many cups to drink for maximum benefits.

Attention tea enthusiasts! Recent research in The Lancet Regional Health — Western Pacific reveals the ideal number of daily tea cups to slow down the aging process. Your biological age (BA) reflects the age of your cells and can determine your overall health. Embracing tea consumption may be the key to a longer life.

Study reveals recommended daily tea consumption to slow aging.

According to the study, drinking three cups of tea or consuming 6 to 8g of tea leaves per day can slow down biological aging. One cup of tea is defined as 200 ml, which is slightly less than 7 oz. This means that consuming three cups would be equivalent to approximately 21 fl oz or 2.6 eight-ounce U.S. cups. The study specifically focuses on black and green tea, excluding herbal teas. The researchers believe that bioactive compounds in tea, such as EGCG, may be responsible for its anti-aging properties. Other research has also linked polyphenols like EGCG to increased longevity.

Tea enthusiasts and former non-drinkers experienced reduced BA acceleration compared to non-tea drinkers. Tea consumption was associated with lower chances of anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Additionally, transitioning from tea drinking to non-drinking led to a significant increase in BA acceleration.

To fully benefit from tea's anti-aging effects, it's best to cut down on alcohol. Research shows that tea's advantages are more pronounced in non-drinkers compared to drinkers. This is especially important for those who recently started drinking tea regularly.
